When Angela “Angi” Veenhuis, who works in Western Australia as a Juuce Hair Product Representative, decided to spend her Christmas and New Years holiday in Bali, she felt compelled to abandon her annual program of gift giving to her salon clients.

Apologizing to her customer base, Angi advised that instead of presenting small gifts to each client this year she would, instead, be donating the gift money used to buy supplies for the Balinese families living in temporary camps after being evacuated from their traditional homes surrounding volcanic Mount Agung.

Eager to join in Angi’s humanitarian effort, many of her customers asked to be allowed to also contribute creating a cash fund of AU$2,000. Not the be outdone, when Angi’s company heard of her plans, they contributed a further AU$2,500.
Some of the funds were used to purchase relief supplies including 30 tarpaulins, 160 toothbrushes, 136 tubes toothpaste, 144 cakes of soap, boxes of mosquito coils, and a truckload of 30 mattresses and blankets.
The LaWalon Hotel in Bali where Angi spent her holiday was so impressed with her philanthropy that they also chipped in Rp. 6 million in fresh vegetables and rice purchased at wholesale prices to be sent to needy evacuees. The manager of LaWalon also provided without charge a flat bed truck, driver and fuel to transport the donated supplies to their final destination.
Thanks to Bert Veenhuis formerly of Bali and now living in Springwood, Queensland who shared the story the remarkable holiday in Bali spent by his daughter, Angi
