The Bali Airport Authority – Angkasa Pura I – signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Bali Tourism Promotion Board (BPPD) on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, to establish permanent Tourism Counters at Bali’s only air gateway

At the signing ceremony of the MOU held at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport, the chairman of the BPPD, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati (Cok Ace), said the Tourism Counter was not being established in response to the ongoing volcanic activity of Mount Agung, but is the realization of a long-standing plan by the BPPD to establish a permanent presence at the airport to help promote the Island’s tourism.
As reported by NusaBali, the Tourism Counters will serve as a reliable information source for visiting tourists on all aspects of Bali tourism.
Cok Ace assured that in the event Bali’s airport having to close again due to volcanic dust activity, the many lessons learned in the 2.5 day closing in late November 2018 would be applied to ensure a smoother handling should another future temporary airport closing occur.
Cok Ace said the Tourism Counter would be staffed to provide up-to-date information on current developments, the status of tourism objects and transportation services in an impartial manner.
In welcoming the MOU, the general manager of the Airport, Rai Yanus Suprayogi, said that the Counter will assist in the handling of tourists should the airport once again be closed due to volcanic dust. Adding, the presence of a Tourism Counter at Bali’s Airport will help further promote tourism on the Island.
